. Consider the matrix, right side vector, and two approximate solutions, A = 0.913 0.659 0.457 0.330 , b = 0.254 0.127 , x1 = −0.0827 0.5 , x2 = 0.999 −1.001 . The true solution is x = [1, −1]T . (a) Compute the norm of error and residual vectors for both x1 and x2 using the [infinity]-norm. (b) x = [1, −1]T is the true solution, so clearly x2 is the more accurate approximation. If you did not know this, given the results of (a), would you have a strong reason to pick one approximate solution over the other by just looking at the norm of the residual?
