An acronym, FOIL, can help you remember the steps for multiplying binomials. FOIL stands for First, Outside, Inside, Last. To multiply two binomials, multiply the first term in each expression, then the two outside terms, then the two inside terms, then the two last terms. Add the four products together and simplify the expression by combining like terms. Remember that FOIL only works when you are multiplying two binomials together.

Let’s practice together with one example: (6x + 5)(7x - 1)
Multiply the two first terms: (6x)(7x)
Multiply the two outside terms: (6x)(-1)
Multiply the two inside terms: (5)(7x)
Multiply the two last terms: (5)(-1)

When you add the products together, you get 42x^2x- 6x + 35x - 5, which you can simplify to 42x^2+ 29x - 5.

Evaluate (x - 3)(2x + 2).

A. 3x + 2x - 6

B. 2x^2- 4x - 6

C. 2x^2- 6x + 2

D. 6x^2- 4x - 2
