Imagine we had a sample of 15 couples and we wanted to predict which of the couples are likely to still be together in 1 year’s time. in an attempt to do this, we filmed each couple having a 5-minute discussion about a recent ‘difficult issue’ that had arisen in their relationship (e. g., how the household chores should be divided). we then coded the video footage and gave each couple a rating out of 20 on three predictors of relationship longevity: (1) listening to each other; (2) level of compromise; and (3) signs of contempt. the outcome was whether they were together a year later (score = 1) or not (score = 0). how could we analyse these data?
