In problems 3 and 5 we looked at and plotted two important trends: the function values jf(xn)j and the absolute error jxn xj of the iterates. it is probably clear why the absolute error, jxn , decays to zero as the iterates converge to the true answer. must the function values jf(xn)j also decay to zero? why or why not? answer yes or no, and write a sentence or two justifying your answer.
