In class, we showed that r^+ = {x element r | x > 0} is a vector space over r with addition and scalar multiplication defined by x + y = xy and ax = x^alpha for x, y element r^+, alpha element r. is r^+ = {x element r | x > 0} still a vector space if we change scalar multiplication to ax = alpha^x? if it is true, prove it. otherwise, state what conditions fail.
