Throughout the years, the Supreme Court has ruled that students do have certain rights but do not possess the full range of rights as an adult. For example, there are rules that protect a school system’s interests at times and places them at a higher value than that of a student’s, given that the school has a higher obligation to ensure the health, discipline, and safety of every student within a building.
