There are two sides to the debate; On the one hand, there are those who propose that the law and rules of evidence ought to be as exclusionary as possible and only permit evidence that meets "the best evidence" criteria. The alternative view is that the law and rules of evidence ought to be as inclusionary as possible and only exclude evidence if it is prejudicial to a party.
