Emily is accompanying her 78-year-old grandmother while she flies
to California to visit family. As they go through the security line,
Emily's grandmother is pulled to the side for further screening. Emily
is extremely irritated because she feels that it is obvious that a 78-
year-old woman is not a threat. The officer explains to Emily that her
grandmother was chosen randomly for the screening. What is MOST
likely the reason for this random selection among passengers?
O So officers don't waste time on people who obviously aren't a threat.
There is no telling exactly who might be carrying a bomb on board.
O So there is no way that the officers could be accused of profiling one
group.
O It's not random; Emily's grandmother must've been acting suspiciously.
