The Electors shall meet of their respective states, and vote through poll for President and Vice-President, one in all whom, at least, shall now no longer be an inhabitant of the equal country with themselves; they shall call of their ballots the man or woman voted for as President, and in awesome ballots the man or woman voted for as Vice-President, and that they shall make awesome lists of all people voted for as President, and of all people voted for as Vice-President, and of the quantity of votes for every, which lists they shall signal and certify, and transmit sealed to the seat of the authorities of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate;– The President of the Senate shall, within side the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all of the certificate and the votes shall then be counted;–The man or woman having the finest quantity of votes for President, will be the President, if such quantity be a majority of the complete quantity of Electors appointed; and if no man or woman have such majority, then from the people having the very best numbers now no longer exceeding 3 at the listing of these voted for as President, the House of Representatives shall select immediately, through poll, the President.
