24. The police arrest Jack on a Brainerd city sidewalk because he matched the description of somebody wanted in a recent burglary. The police seized his cell phone, went through it, and found text messages he sent to friends bragging about the crime. At court, Jack's attorney argued that Jack's constitutional rights had been violated when the police went through his cell phone. Regardless, Jack is found guilty in trial court. The case is appealed to the Minnesota Intermediate Appeals Court which affirmed the lower court's decisionThe Minnesota Supreme Court hears the case next, and also upholds the decision of the lower courtJack's attorney files another appeal.
