her annual performance review where Samen gave her an excellent review. Samen's
excellent review was determined by first observing Alison's skills during a facial
service, and by considering the customer's reviews of Alison's services. All the
customer reviews scored Alison as an esthetician as "excellent." A month ago, Alison
informed Samen that she is two months pregnant and that she will taking maternity
leave after she delivers the baby. Yesterday, Samen asked to speak to Alison. In the
meeting, Samen told Alison that she was fired because as a small business owner
Samen cannot accommodate a pregnant worker and she needs to find an esthetician
replacement immediately. Alison is very upset and wants to sue Samen and
Tranquility Spa Inc. for pregnancy discrimination.
