Why did riots break out in dozens of american cities in the late 1960s

Riots broke out in dozens of American cities in the late 1960s because the African Americans took to violence for they were being subjected to discrimination on all the fronts of society, were fed up of continued poverty, were not being provided equal opportunities, etc.

The decade of the 1960s saw a few horrendous riots in the history of United States. These riots were a result of the anger of the blacks against the treatment that was given to them.
