Its in "great character" 1215. Its a trial by peers and prohibited taking liberty, life property. The government became a contract and estabolished the idea of limited government.The king and queen for a while had nearly unlimited powers then in 1215 King john was forced to sign The "Magna Carta" which was also known as the "Great character" The document provided for trial by a jury of ones peers/ equals. It prohibits the the taking of a persons life liberty and property except by the lawful judgement of that persons peers. The document (magna carta ) also forces the king to obtain the nobles approval of any taces he imposed on his royal subjects. The magna Carta is very importantto england. IT completely and clearly estabolished the idea of limited governemnt.  Limited government is a government that stict limits are placed apon usually by a constituion but it can go either way. Basicly what it did the Magna Carta ended the monarchs complete power giving more rights and powers to the people however it was origionally meant for the nobility but it ended as it was extended to all the citizens and people. In 1628 king charles I was forced to sign the Petetion of rights which it restricted the king to throw people in jail without a fair trial with a jury.
