The League of Nations was a form resolve disputes among member countries. Through its charter, member nations pledged act collectively against any country that attacked a member country.

The League of Nations (or League of Nations) was an entity devised by the countries that won World War I (1914–18). They wanted the league to serve as a place where countries could settle disputes through negotiations rather than fighting.  

The goal of the League of Nations was to prevent wars. The member countries agreed to discuss with the organization any dispute that could lead to armed conflict. Members also agreed to act together against any country that was creating problems. In addition, the league tried to get countries to reduce the number of weapons.

in february 1787, congress decided that a convention should be convened to revise the articles of confederation, the nation’s first constitution. in may, 55 delegates came to philadelphia, and the constitutional convention began. debates erupted over representation in congress, over slavery, and over the new executive branch. the debates continued through four hot and muggy months. but eventually the delegates reached compromises, and on september 17, they produced the u.s. constitution, replacing the articles with the governing document that has functioned effectively for more than 200 years.
