The struggle of women who through this amendment sought to guarantee equal rights for this gender were constant. The different organizations in favor of women have expressed that this gender has not yet been considered as equal in law to men, which is why in 1972 this amendment was presented and approved, both in the Senate and in the House of Representatives, However, due to various adverse situations, the debate on this amendment could never be carried out, so it finally expired in 1982 and it is for this reason that it is a failed attempt and is not part of the Constitution of the United States.

since most of current immigration into the u.s., both legal and illegal, is coming from latin america. it would be very difficult to imagine or rationalize a country my fellow citizens are trying desperately to flee into, would pose a threat to my prosperity or freedom. since the u.s. has a long history of intervention, but no record of permanent occupation, i would not feel oppression is the main objective.
