According to the Development Indicators for Algeria chart, between 1996-2010 Algeria never scored higher than a 16 out of 100 for government stability and the absence of violence. This tells me that there is still a lot of instability and violence. Today, many people in Algeria live in poverty. There is also still political conflict resulting in protests and violence. The country has tried to develop business but there is no strong economy to support the people. I believe this is why they have such low scores on the chart.

Explanation: Historically, Algeria was an area in conflict. After colonization the continual mistreatment of native people led to violence. Algeria gained independence through violence. A democracy was established but many did not want a democracy and were still unhappy. This led to continued violence that we still see today.
