When Napoleon's Grand Army invaded Russia, the troops numbered over 600,000.  When they limped back into Europe in late November, only 27,000 men remained.  There were some losses in Russia and even more while retreating.  Overall the French suffered nearly 400,000 dead and 100,000 captured during the failed Russian campaign.

The French losses at Waterloo were much smaller -- about 25,000 men killed and 9,000 captured.  I realize those aren't small numbers of casualties, but compared to the horrific losses of life in Russia, Waterloo was a lesser affair.
