What was an economic cause of the french revolution

Louis XIV wanted France to become the main European power, and because of that, he fought in many wars. Louis also spent a lot of money with his extravagant lifestyle, his palace of Versailles and his wife Marie Antoinette spent fortunes. The people who were suffering from hunger and lack of any social help noticed that. Both of these situations led to the emptiness of the royal treasury.

The economic crisis became even greater because there was a severe winter in 1784 and following droughts which caused harvests and famine. The government was unable to help people because did not have money. These was the main economic causes of the French Revolution.
