America definitely got a good deal with Franklin D. Roosevelt. Once elected President in 1933, FDR helped to pass several different laws as part of his New Deal policy. This New Deal had three elements: relief, recovery, and reform. His goal was to help America out of the Great Depression.

One way he did this was by creating job opportunities. When FDR was inaugurated as President, the US employment rate was above 20%. To fix this, he created government agencies like the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). This employed single males age 18-25 to help protect and preserve nature in the US while also helping to fix and build roads. Another way he tried to help America was by creating the Social Security Administration. This program helped to give financial assistance to America's elderly citizens. This still exists today, as workers in the US pay into Social Security and elderly citizens in the US still collect it today.

Even though he had several successful programs, not all of the New Deal was seen as positive. Firstly, the unemployment rate was still extremely high during the first three years of his presidency ( around 15-20%). Along with that, many argued that FDR was setting a dangerous example of the federal government being too involved in the lives of everyday citizens.

Overall, his policies can be seen as wildly popular and successful.
