Supporters of Manifest Destiny believed it was acceptable to remove Native Americans from their land in order to open it for white settlement.

Manifest Destiny is the belief that it is the United States god-given right to expand and control almost all of the territory in the North American continent. More specifically, the US wanted to control all land inbetween the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean. In order to do this, the US would have to take land away from Native Americans (who controlled numerous parts of North America at this time). This resulted in laws like the Indian Removal Act (1830).
