There were cultural clashes between secularists and traditionalists. Traditionalists got every sort of scientific explanation from the Bible while secularists knew the actual scientific explanation for evolution and whatnot. People eventually became more educated and the culture changed, with the majority of folks accepting science and its explanations.

Do you have more info about it ? i doubt this is the answer because i don't have all the information but if trouble was brewing in a clinic maybe it was an argument as to which clinic was better or smth of that nature
