The two federal immigration policies during the late 19th century that I read about were the 1) Chinese Exclusion Act, and 2) Alien Contract Labor Law.

The Chinese Exclusion Act was signed by President Chester A. Arthur on May 6, 1882. This Act prohibits all Chinese from immigrating to the United States.

The Alien Contract Labor Law of 1885 prohibited American businesses from importing and migrating foreigners who were contracted to work in United States and its territories.
