Why did the south have slavery as a part of their economic system while the north did not?

The South had more plantations, and a larger agricultural economy. Slavery was mainly used on plantations and farms. The Northern economy, however, was mainly made up of mining and trapping.

Contributing factors  leading  to the harlem renaissance were the great migration of african americans to northern cities, which concentratedambitious  people in places where they could encourage each  other, and the first world war, which had created new industrial work opportunities for tens of thousands of people.
