In the early years of the Industrial Revolution, factory owners paid women lower wages than men.

Factory owners prefer to hire women or children as their factory workers because they are paid lower wages compared to the wages of men and they do not complain.

Before the rise of the Industrial Revolution, Cottage Industry was the trend of manufacturing goods at home where workers usually were women; men were busy doing farm work.

Therefor, when Industrial Revolution came, the process of producing goods from home became minimal and women were given no other option but to look for work in the factories to support their family, regardless of their lesser benefits.
