After being admitted into America, many immigrants in the 1800s made their assimilation easier by settling in areas where others from their country had settled.

Assimilation in terms of cultural assimilation refers to the process in which a minority group or culture comes to resemble a majority group or assume the values, behaviors, customs and beliefs of another group.

By settling in areas where others from their country had settled, African found it easy to be close to those who share backgroundsho that the managed to learn important aspects of the new territory such as the customs, culture, government issues, the wildlife, among others.
