Zheng He was a famous explorer, particularly famous for seven expeditions that took place between 1405 and 1433, which in popular culture some people identify as the legendary Simbad Expeditions.

Zheng He was an Islam practitioner, and there is speculation that he could intercede on behalf of his brothers of faith, since the Muslims were badly seen at the beginning of the Ming dynasty because they fulfilled the role of tax colectors in the previous dynasty. However, he was respectful of the other religions with which he was found, fundamentally Buddhism and Taoism and did not hesistate to follow their rituals when neccesary.

It was believed that his muslim origins were key to him being chosen as Admiral of the Treasure Fleet, since in those trips he visited Arabia adn Africa, regions where this religion is practiced.
