What was the attitude of the people of israel toward god while they were in the midst of the desert?

The people of Israel were annoyed toward God while they were in the middle of the desert. They also kept complaining and asking why Moses brought them there. At first, they were all praising God. Then the next thing, they began to grumble when there was no more water to drink. 

If i remember correctly it was caused by people hurling bodies at a country for some reason and them they all became infected
