How did the missouri compromise, proposed by henry clay, try to resolve the slavery problem? it mandated all territories eliminate slavery before becoming states it banned slavery in much of the previous louisiana territory except for missouri. it made the mississippi river the boundary between slave states and free states. it required all future states to be slave states except missouri
