How did the mughal empire promote religious tolerance in the territories it controlled?

Akbar, the grandson of Babur (founder of the Mughal Empire) promoted religious tolerance by reducing religious conflict. He did this by demoting religious persecution, incorporating other religions, and reforming tax policies that were unfair towards certain religions.
