Where did the founders get their ideas for starting a new government?

The founders got it from John Locke and John Hobbs. John Locke was a philosopher, and back then (when I answer this I’m talking in terms of the US government), a lot of politicians and people who helped form the government had John Locke’s ideas and things on there shelves (books). Touching on John Hobbs he had this thing that he called, ‘state of nature’ meaning when there is no government. Also, because people were tired of living under British rule (or *insert whatever country*) so they decided ‘hey, let’s make our own rules.’
