The United States and its allies came forward for the rehabilitation of Japan and the period between 1945 to 1952 is known as the period of Japanese reconstruction. During this period, The US Occupying forces which were led by General Douglas A MacArthur worked for many militaries, Political, Social and Economic reforms of Japan. During that period of time, The main question was what should be done with the Emperor of Japan. Allies like Britain and Russia were in support of the Japanese Emperor tried and hanged as a war criminal but Douglas A MacArthur was against it as he thought that this will further anger Japanese people.

He proposed the development of democracy in Japan. He was the one who ordered to suspend all Japanese laws which were related to political and civil liberties and also ordered to release political prisoners of Japan and he also abolished the Secret police of Japan. He made many changes in the Japanese government which included elections to take place democratically and also provided women the Right to vote in Japan which was not there earlier.
