The Union also had an industrial economy, where- as the Confederacy had an economy based on agriculture. The Union had most of the natural resources, like coal, iron, and gold, and also a well-developed rail system.

The union had much more money, and they also had more men. The union had most factories and produced more textiles, guns, ammo, and boots than the confederacy. The union also had more railroad tracks than the south, making it easy to transport their men quicker.
