On the contrary to communism, capitalism is the socio-economic-political theory where, rather than by the state, the private owners control a country’s trade and industry for profit. Therefore, in brief, capitalism is the economic system based on private ownership of the means of production and their operation for profit.

Capitalism is an economic system in which the trade and industry of the economy is owned and controlled by private individuals, to make profit. Communism refers to social system in which country's trade and industry are controlled by the community and the share of each individual relies on his ability and needs.

the tariff was created to protect industry in the northern part of the united states. industries in the north were being driven out of business by imported goods that were priced at a low rate. the goal was to protect these industries   by taxing the goods.
