Why did many Jews, Christians, and other non-Muslims convert to Islam in the growing Muslim empire? Help

In the time of the Muslim Empire, many people who were non-Muslim felt extreme pressure from the Muslim government to convert to Islam. This event  was called Islamization. Many pro-Muslim policies were enacted, such as a jizyah, or tax, for the exchange of goods for a non-Muslim. Travel fees and passage fees were also charged extra to non-Muslims.

Muslim rulers would also use oppressive measures to pressure people to convert to Islam, such as taking their assets, such as their goods, horses, and money, and only giving them back once the person had converted to Islam.

They also only allowed non-Muslims who were traveling through to trade to live in the Muslim Empire for a year, maximum.

This led many non-Muslims to convert to Islam, or at least pretend they had converted while still practicing their home religion. However, scholars argue that many people who took on Muslim names, clothes, language, and worship practices with the intention of practicing their own religion, like Judaism or Christianity, ended up blending Islam into their own faith.
