The Gettysburg Address was a declaration that was written and delivered by Abraham Lincoln in 1863. This speech stated that the Civil War was a fight not only for the Union, but also for a whole new idea of freedom that would make everyone united as one nation. Lincoln reminded everyone of how many lives were lost and how much blood was shed in order to restore the peace that everyone wished for so greatly.

i also think he is correct. i believe they came to washington to protest their rights.
