The Americas: This term can be used as to generally describe the western-hemisphere, including that of North America, Central America, & South America. However, in many cases of history, it is specified towards North and Central America.

Slavery: Slavery is defined as working for someone against your own will, typically with little to no benefits, and extremely negatives. This is typically defined as not being paid, while not benefiting from having safe work conditions, and involuntary work for most, if not all of your life.

Encomienda system: A tiered class system that typically describe Spanish colonies, which places in the pinnacle class as those who were born from Spain and that has immigrated her, or the Peninsulares, followed by those who were born of Spanish parents in the New World, or Creoles, then those who have Spanish blood that was mixed with Native Americans Indians (intermarriage) Mestizos, followed by Native Americans, and then finally Slaves.

Cargo: Cargo in those days are typically goods that are transported en mass by ship. For example, "A cargo of gold was located on a sunken ship off of Mexico".

Abolition: Abolition is the ending of the legality of slavery. This means that slavery is banned, and the owning of people (usually by the color of skin, but also sometimes through social status) permanently with no rights is outlawed and forbidden.
