Gettysburg Was the Turning Point of the War. The Battle of Gettysburg fought on July 1–3, 1863, was the turning point of the Civil War for one main reason: Robert E. Lee's plan to invade the North and force an immediate end to the war failed.

The confederates were pushing up towards DC. The battle of Gettysburg decided everything, what are the considers win or whether the union will win. If the Confederates won the battle they would’ve pushed on the DC. If they lost they would not have enough resources or manpower to continue the war it was in or nothing battle
