Sectionalism is a fierce loyalty to one's regions, rather than to the whole country. The United Stated had become increasingly divided during the 1850s over new
states that would enter the Union as "free" or "slave". Why was it important to
maintain the status quo of the Antebellum South? What did Southerners want from
the new states coming into the Union? Once you have answered the questions,
create a chart to identify free states, border states, and states allowing
enslavement.
