In the western bloc, the Cold War was seen as the political, economic, social and cultural clash between two clearly antagonistic world views: the western, democratic, free and capitalist, which defended the rights of citizens to live under slogans of respect. for life, freedom and the pursuit of happiness; and the communist, aligned with the USSR and China, which sought to establish communist dictatorships that controlled through the government the entire political and economic apparatus of nations. Thus, the Cold War was seen as the world event in which both ideologies were debated in battle, and each bloc sought to enlarge its spheres of influence, that is, to bring more nations under its political model.
