Why is it such a big deal that Deb Haaland was nominated for this position?

Deb Haaland is a native american, the first one to be nominated for this position. The Department of the Interior works on how to distribute federal land, much of which is native american reservations. Basically, we finally have someone who knows what they are doing in office.
