How is attending a public meeting when a bill is debated an effective form of civic involvement? It gives citizens a chance to share their opinions or experiences on the issues being debated. It gives citizens a chance to veto the bill, but only in a public meeting of this type. It allows citizens to have a direct vote on the issue when it goes before the full legislature. It fulfills the requirement of all citizens to attend a certain number of meetings in order to gain the right to vote.
