Gertrude and Leo Stein, brother and sister from America, were rich painting collectors who owned an apartment in Paris in the early 1900s. In this apartment, they exhibited paintings of different painters and organized every Saturday evening the debates between intellectuals and artists who lived in French capital. These long discussions influenced the style of literature and painting. It was Leo who discovered Pablo Picasso and bought some of his paintings. He was unknown in the artistic world at that time.
