These awakening were the result of preaching by the influential people and the religious leaders who traveled across the country for preaching the gospel of salvation. During the awakenings, there was an increase in the interest in religion and church membership. Jonathan Edwards and Gilbert Tennet were some of the notable personalities of during the awakening.
