What is the reason for why liberia, in west africa not associated with a europian power on this map? what's the reason for this

Liberia was for freed slaves by Whites in America who believed they should return to Africa. 

Therefore, they are not associated with a European country. 

The answer is:  it wasn't established with a thought of integrating it into the country or extracting resources from it, as with the other colonies. Instead, it was thought of as a country for African Americans: freed slaves from the US.
