World War I began after the assassination of Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand. There were several reasons for leading to the declaration of World War I. One of the causes was the European expansion. Before World War I, Britain and France were the biggest holder of the colonial empires, regions like India, Vietnam and Africa (West and North). Britain and France continued to expand their territories in WWI, which led the other countries to oppose, including Austria-Hungary, Germany, and the Ottoman Empire.
