The confederate states of America were organized by lower southern states. Jefferson Davis was elected its president. It stretched from South Carolina to Texas. The major cause for the formation of the confederacy was its disagreement with the northern states about the abolition of slavery.

The other important event was a civil war, It began in 1861 and ended in 1865. The issue of slavery led to civil war. The southern states viewed that the abolition of the slave labor North was trying to change the south's economy and way of life and it led to the secession of 11 southern states. North and South fought a war and under the leadership of Abraham Lincoln North won the war and slavery was abolished.
