Confederates had to swear by two requierments of the ironclad oath which were:
a) they could not longer fight against the u. s voluntarlly
b) a willingness to pay any form of reparation requierd of them
c) no longer could they bear arms against the united states
d) acceptance of any and all punishment placed on them
