The Russo- Japenese war was fought for the imperial ambition on Manchuria and Korea between the Japanese Empire and Rusian Empire during 1904 and 1905. Most of the battles were fought in the Liaodong Peninsula, Mukden and Yellow sea.

The war was declared by Japan by issuing the declaration of the war on 8th February 1904, though the Japanese Imperial Navy attacked the Port Arthur of Russia three hours before the declaration giving the reference of Russain's Sweden attack of 1809. Russian declared the war after eight days. The war continued for two years and finally came to end after the defeat Russian army and navy. Treaty of Portsmouth was marked as the end of the war signed on 5th September at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Seavey's Island, according to which Japan established its control over Korea. Theodore Roosevelt, the President of the United States acted as the mediator of the Treaty of Portsmouth. According to him supremacy of any of the two power would become a threat to growing America. Roosevelt was given the Noble Peace Prize for his peacemaking efforts.
