Why do you think that tertiary and quaternary periods have greater resolution in their subdivisions (epochs) than the periods composing the paleozoic era?

I believe that the answer to the question provided above is that that tertiary and quaternary periods have greater resolution in their subdivisions (epochs) than the periods composing the paleozoic era because of the sudden changes of the tertiary and quaternary periods  it is subdivided.
