Why did the french explore, claim, & colonize parts of north america?

A few things including the following, the three G's were important to them, which is God, Gold, and Glory. they were trying to gather those things. also they wanted land to expand the kingdom, and they were especially looking for gold, and to be rich. exploration also got lots of people famous so many poor explored, and kings dominated other places like spain, while they were focused on expanding. hope i helped, tag me if you need help
